Scott McNealy and Jason Carolan discuss "From Landware to Cloudware" at Galvenize

It was a night with tech royalty last night as Scott McNealy came to Galvenize to discuss cloud technologies.  As many of you know Scott was co-founder and former CEO Sun Microsystems as well as co-founder and current chairman of Wayin.  Scott was joined by Jason Carolan, CTO of Viawest.

What was clear from the talk, besides the fact that Scott is ardent capitalist and generally funny guy, is that cloud technologies have fundamentally altered how IT departments work.  The most memorable quote of the night was when Scott asked, and I paraphrase, "why does a company send it's money to the bank, yet won't send its data to the cloud?"  Interesting point how companies will trust another organization to store its most prized assett, cash; but is reluctant to have another organization store its data.

I also want to note that the event hosted a diaper drive for the Diaper Bank of the Rockies.  If you would like to donate to this outstanding group, please go here:  http://diaperbankoftherockies.com/
