New Seagate drives spur jobs in Longmont | Today's News | Boulder County Business Report

LONGMONT - Many of the 150 new employees Seagate Technology PLC plans to hire in Longmont will be engineers to support new computer storage-drive products announced Tuesday.


At least one of the new, high-speed storage drives was designed at the Longmont design-center office of Seagate (Nasdaq: STX), which is incorporated in Dublin, Ireland. Other new storage-drive products are designed at a Minnesota plant. Seagate has about 1,250 employees in Longmont; its principal executive office is in Cupertino, California.

"A good deal of the new hiring we're doing this year is related to this expanded line of SSD (solid-state drive) products," said Cindy Martini, a spokesman for Seagate based in Longmont.
